Photo posts, not just video
TikTok photo posts — the swipeable ones, sometimes called slideshows or carousels — can now be scheduled here alongside everything else. Attach photos to a TikTok post instead of a video and it posts as a photo post automatically. There is nothing extra to switch on.
You can put up to 35 photos in one post.
About music — please read this bit
This is the one thing that works differently to posting by hand, and it is worth knowing before you plan a post around a particular sound.
You cannot choose the sound. TikTok does not let any scheduling tool pick a track, attach a trending sound, or upload your own audio to a photo post. That is a limit TikTok puts on every app, not something we have left out.
What you can do is tick Let TikTok add music in the TikTok options when you write the post. TikTok then picks a track it thinks suits the photos. If you leave it unticked, the post goes up silent.
If a specific sound genuinely matters for a post, post that one by hand in the TikTok app. Everything else can be scheduled here.
Choosing the cover
The first photo is the cover by default — that is the one people see in your profile grid and in the feed. You can pick a different one in the TikTok options.
Which photos work
TikTok accepts JPEG and WebP. It does not accept PNG.
You do not need to worry about this for anything you upload from now on — when you upload a PNG we quietly make a TikTok-ready copy in the background, and your original stays exactly as it is for every other platform.
Older PNGs are the exception. Anything uploaded before this feature existed has no TikTok copy. If you attach one, you will see a note in the composer telling you TikTok cannot use it. Re-upload the same file and it will work — the re-upload gets the TikTok copy made automatically.
Other things worth knowing:
- Each photo can be up to 20MB
- 1080 x 1920 (tall, 9:16) looks best — smaller still works, it is just softer
- You cannot mix photos and a video in the same TikTok post. Pick one or the other.
Captions
Write the caption as you normally would. TikTok treats the first part as a title and it is short — about 90 characters — so put the important words first. The rest of your caption still goes on the post underneath.
Everything else is the same
Privacy, comments, and the branded-content settings all work exactly as they do for TikTok videos. Duet and Stitch settings appear in the options but TikTok ignores them on photo posts — they only apply to video.
